Netherlands is experiencing a 500% rise in Covid-19 cases after all restrictions were lifted
According to the British newspaper, “The Guardian” published today.
There are some worrying signs, with Sky News reporting that:
the rise in cases is almost entirely attributed to the removal of most of the remaining restrictions and the reopening of nightclubs in late June.
Nightclubs are closed again until August 13, and bars will have to close at midnight.
Nearly 52,000 people in the Netherlands tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week, an increase of more than 500%.
Of the traceable infections, officials said, 37% occurred in hospitality venues, such as clubs and bars.
However, there are positive signs for the country, namely that the hospitalization rate in Netherlands is estimated at about 11%
which is equivalent to only 60 patients.
To read further, the oscillation between reopening and imposing restrictions may continue across Europe for some time.
