Delta Variant has Spread Around the USA

The governor of the US state of Arkansas said that there are only eight beds left in the intensive care units in the state, while the spread of the mutated Delta variant raised the number of injured inside and outside hospitals in the United States to the highest level in six months.

In neighboring Texas, Governor Greg Abbott told hospitals to postpone non-emergency surgeries

as the mutated strain spread rapidly in large parts of the country, including many southern states facing low vaccination rates.

Nationwide, the average number of coronavirus cases reached 100,000 for three days in a row, up 35% from the previous week

According to a Reuters tally based on announced health data. Louisiana, Florida and Arkansas have recorded the most new cases in the past week.

The number of COVID-19 patients being treated in hospitals increased by 40%

while the death toll rose by 18 percent nationwide in the past week.

Florida set a new record for the number of daily infections, as 28,317 cases were detected on Sunday

According to data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Hospitalization rates in Florida hit record levels for the eighth consecutive day, according to a Reuters analysis.

The number of children requiring hospital treatment is increasing across the country, in a trend that health experts attribute to the delta variant

which is more likely to infect young children than the original alpha strain.
